S.A.D

So we've had a week of stormy, rainy weather and I'm already feeling (pre-mature) comradery with those in the North Pole.... A few things have contributed to this. Buckets of rain and cold wind, a toddler who is more S.A.D. and cranky than I am, and no car to escape in = a recipe for the blues!
(I apologize to my family in all (cold) parts of the country who are scoffing at my low tolerance for gray skies.)

The major high point in my week was getting the news that my sister and my brother in law want to gift their 2003 Hyundai to us!!! We are just trying to find out the logistics of getting the car here and I'm telling you, this news couldn't have come at a better time. It's going to massively improve our situation!

So, when the sun comes out and I feel like smiling again, probably in a day or so, I'll snap some pretty pictures of the clean, sparkly, smog free world and post them.

(Also, thank you to John and Carol who visited from Ohio and got me and Anders out for a bit today. That was a major boost.)

Sick Day

Yesterday was spent on the couch in the most cuddly fashion. Anders had the flu and although Chris and I were up most of the night doing laundry and holding a bowl for him, it was one of the sweetest days I've spent with him. Normally Anders is independent, active and will every once in a while run over, give me a hug and tell me he loves me. But yesterday he wanted to be held, rocked and at one point fell asleep with his feet in my face. And as you know I love those little feet! By the end of the day he was playing the Wii and eating popsicles. Today he's fine and we're just praying that that's the last flu we'll see this year!!

Good memories

This is a photo taken probably in 1989 when my cousins were home on furlough from the Philippines. As I remember it was a REALLY fun summer and we were so excited to have them back! For those of you who don't know me in person I'm the 2nd from the left. Yes, the girl who looks like a boy....

Well, it's 2010....

Well this seems to be my Christmas/New Years letter although I may try to make some kind of hard copy to send out to all of the lovely people who sent us one this year. We'll see how it goes.

For the New Year we celebrated by staying in, enjoying a glass of wine and trying to sleep in. Although that didn't really happen because Anders has now realized that he can get up and come in to our room to get us up. I decided that we need to have some cap on this habit or else he'll start coming in earlier and earlier. It turned out to be a VERY loud and disruptive stance that was taken and so I just couldn't go back to sleep and neither could Chris. So we got up and enjoyed the Rose Parade.

After a leisurely morning we made a big trek up to Mt. Wilson to see some snow. Apparently most of it was melted but we did find a few dirty patches to play in. Anders was in heaven and I got some good pictures of the day. We had a late lunch at a little bar/restaurant called Newcombs Ranch that was decent although it was obvious that there was no competition and because of this turned out to be fairly nominal. Maybe we just hit it on a down day...
Anyways here are the pictures from our outing.
I hope you all had a lovely holiday season as well!
