Sunflower Update #4

The sunflowers are beginning to bloom and they are lovely! It's so summery to have bright yellow sunflower blooms to look at out my window.

On another note Anders had his 3 year old check-up today and I was so proud of him! He got to shots, one on each arm and a finger poke. He cried but was fine pretty quickly.
It was fun to see him interact with the new doctor and get all of the routine tests done. He thought it was all fun except the shots and I wouldn't be surprised if he is excited to go back the next time we have to!

Pool Day

What a lovely day to be at the pool! Anders and I both got nasty sunburns despite sunscreen but other than that it was really perfect.

Pictures of the civic center

More pictures of our pretty public library and civic center. I love the architecture! Inside it's all craftsman style with vaulted ceilings.

Trip to the library

Lately we (I) have had a bad case of cabin fever. Since we only have one car now I have been feeling really stuck. We walk to the park when it's not too hot and every once in a while we make the trek down to the local shopping
center.

The good thing is that we have a free shuttle service in our city that goes to all of the places that I can't go by car! I put off using the trolley for a while because the last time we went the ride home took way longer than I had anticipated and the bus was hot and bumpy.... This time I calculated the route better so that we wouldn't get stuck on the long way back.

We left the house at 9:00 to get to the 10:30 story hour. Since we had some time to kill I got to sip a cup of coffee while Anders ran around the gorgeous civic center property.

We found a bunch of rolley polley bugs and that kept him busy for a while too. The story time was great and after that we rode the escalator at the Barnes and Noble a few times.

Then it was time for lunch at Pick Up Stix and then back to the trolley stop to head home for nap.
It really was a good day and a huge relief to figure out the bus schedule. We'll be using it a lot this summer.
Thank you to everyone who responded to my curiosity post! Thanks for visiting my blog and sharing your favorite movies! It's always fun to find out peoples tastes and also get some Netflix ideas. =0)

Three tomorrow!

It was three years ago tonight that I was lying in bed at a hospital in Bellflower California, not able to get a deep breath, feeling very lonely and claustrophobic and not realizing that the next day I would have a c-section to give birth to my 3 pound infant. What an adventure the last three years have been!

Our "new" red couch is no longer new. It is in fact very well used. The chinchilla "bubba" is long gone (hopefully not dead), and our child no longer looks like a worried old man.

Tomorrow we'll take Anders out for breakfast and get him ice cream. He'll open the box from Grandma J. and have a tantrum because even though it's his birthday we won't be going to Travel Town until Sunday. And explaining that will be next to impossible.

It's fun to think back to those life altering first days of being parents. It really puts everything into perspective!

Three good fathers

The two best Dads around are my dad who really is the epitome of honest, funny, serious, spiritual, goofy, and genuine and of course Chris who is a loyal, kind, funny, attentive, and gentle father to Anders.
I can't believe how lucky I am to have these such great men in my life!
I can't forget mentioning my Grandpa, another great man who set the bar high not only for his three daughters but for his grand-daughters as well!
Thank-you to you all!

Curiosity Satisfaction

I am very curious as to who my blog audience is. I know that my audience is fairly (very) small although I have no idea how small. I know that most of my family visits regularly although I usually only know this because they might mention it in passing.

Every so often I come across someone who has been reading my blog but has never left a comment. And it kind of surprises me since I sort of write my blog with my commenters or my mom in mind.

So, if you read this blog at all, leave your name and say 'hello'. It's always fun to see which countries are represented (I have some from Ukraine, Italy and Canada).

Oh, and tell me what your favorite movie is for fun!

He looks so peaceful when he's sleeping....

I've already posted this on my Facebook account so I apologize for the repetitive nature....

Today was my Birthday and because of the occasion Chris wanted to take us out so that I wouldn't have to cook. (good husband). So I told Anders that Daddy was going to take us out on a "family date" for dinner! He looked at me with the expression of someone who had just heard that they were told to eat slugs and said "eeww, gross!"
I guess I get it....

Play Date Fun

Today we had a fun play date at the house of one of our MOPS moms houses. It was up in the mountains of Malibu and what a great property for kids to play on! It was all fenced and there was so much room for everyone to run around.

I got to pet this lovely gentle horse and now I can hardly see to type this since my eyes are almost swollen shut. I hate being allergic to animals!

One of the kids was having a birthday so someone brought some yummy little mini cupcakes for the kids. They were a big hit!

Everyone had a great time although there were the usual kid calamities one of them being Anders who tipped over on a little car and hit his head on the cement. Luckily he didn't seem to be any worse for the wear. I guess those things can be expected.

Breakfast at our house

Two days ago we all sat down for breakfast together. It really is a luxury in our house to have a meal together during the week. Chris usually has to work past dinner time and breakfast is usually grab and go.
So for the sake of history and family memories here we are in all of our morning glory.

Buy that boy an ice cream!!

Tonight I snapped a few pictures of Anders looking especially cute. Then when the ice cream truck went by I decided that instead of letting it pass on it's merry way we should chase it down and get Anders a popsicle! Who wouldn't want to get this boy a popsicle???

I try really I do....

So try as I might whenever I try and make myself look presentable, my boy attacks me and this is what I end up looking like.... really, I did have a nice neat (albeit frumpy) pony tail before the attack!

Must Be A Boy Thing

Recently I bought some of those little arm floaty things for a dollar at Albertson's. They  have a picture of Spider Man on them. Yesterday Anders was studying them with a lot of intensity and here's the conversation we had.

Anders: He's really naughty...

Me: Well, he's actually a good guy who helps people.

Anders: But he's naughty, I can't see his face.

Me: I know, he has a mask on so you can't see his face.

Later in the day while I was busy with something Anders came in and his little hands were in motion which means he has something on his mind.

Anders: ....I....spider....guy....

Me: (thinking he was talking about the spider we killed earlier in the day) Oh, you killed a spider?

Anders: No, I...Spider Man. I have red face.... I need a mask. I help people!

It looks like I may need to rig up some kind of super hero costumes.

Sunflower Update #3

Today is a lovely cloudy, rainy day with a little thunder. I love these rare days! I always think that the plants and trees look greener on cloudy days. So naturally I had to do a sunflower update as well as post a picture of my favorite plant that thrives on tons of water. I love it because all I have to do is dump a pitcher of water on it if it's looking a little sad and KA POW! Beautiful.
